Other Side of Night (A Novella)

With his newly rescued Golden Retriever, Boone, Luke is determined to figure out what is so important on the phone and why someone will do anything to get it back. Other Side of Night is a heart-pounding story of three friends forced to rise above their fear and face unknown adversaries in order to discover the truth.

The Stranger (A Novella)

Something horrible happened eight years ago in the small coastal town of Seal
Bay. Six high school girls were killed and dumped into the bay by a man named Lance Puckett. It was a crime which ripped apart a community and left emotional scars that time would never heal. A calm morning in Seal Bay is shattered by the appearance of a stranger who bears a striking resemblance to Lance. Has he come back to dig up memories from the past, or could this man be a drifter, just passing through? This suspenseful thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat with a twist that will leave you breathless. Who is The Stranger?

Available for $.99 on the Amazon Kindle Store. Kindle app can be installed on iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Driod, PC, etc.

Unknown (True Identity)

Without a past, how can we possibly have a future? Darkness. The black, shapeless void that refuses the presence of light. The kind of darkness where only the dead dare to explore, and the living fear to gaze upon. With no memory of my past, I wake up inside a pizzeria with nothing but a wadded up piece of paper in my pocket. I will have to rely heavily on my instincts in order to survive. I have no idea who I am. I don’t know who to trust. Faded images briefly flash through my mind, but they make no sense. Are they memories from a past I have somehow forgotten? Are they clues to my identity? Only time will tell.

  9. Hi Chris, I’m Lidia and I’m an Italian translator. First of all, thanks for following my blog, I really appreciate it. I see you are a ‘fresh’ writer of thrillers and – being a lover of this genre – I would really like to translate your novels (novellas, as you call ‘em) in Italian. Might you be interested in expanding your public? On my side, I haven’t translated novels yet, but I would really like to, so this might be a mutual chance. Should you be interested, feel free to contact me at the e-mail address you can find on my blog. In the meantime, I think I’m going to purchase ‘the Stranger on Amazon’, I’ve read the first couple of pages and I’m eager to read the rest.
    All the best!

I wish you all the luck with your endevours on your writing, great tool we have at our disposal this self publishing thing. By the way, you should charge more.

  16. Hi Chirs,

Is there going to be a sequel to unknown? I read it a few weeks ago–it’s good stuff! But it did leave us on a cliff.

  17. Hi Chris. Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Even though you’re not the Coldplay Chris Martin, it seems you have your early forays into poetry and lyrics in common with him. Personally, I find lyrics insanely difficult. Good luck with your writing. Self-publishing is such a wonderful opportunity for more of us to get our stories out there. :)

  18. Chris, I just finished reading Unknown tonight and I loved it! Wow! It kept my attention constantly and was hard to put down. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out. I so want to see what happens next. Looking forward to starting The Stranger very soon! Thanks for a great story!

  19. Bought unknown will read it over the next two weeks on vacation will let you know what I thought.

  20. Thank you for visiting and following my prose and fiction and non-fiction blog. I appreciate your reading my work. I have enjoyed reading some of your posts as well. You seem to have interesting perspectives and a commitment to service with God’s guidance. Best regards;may your faith increase and strengthen.

  21. Thank you for following my blog, I am so grateful to have found other bloggers who share the passion for writing. I love to write about all things in life. I also have several novels in the works they have been put on the back burner. But after reading your inspirational journey I will rejoin you in the ranks of a novelist soon. I look forward to reading the “Unknown”, I do not have a Kindle but have a Nook so am wondering how this can work for me? Please let me know. You are truly inspirational and my gratitude is yours, have a wonderful day, Allie.

  22. Chris, I wish you a whole lot of success!! I love suspense so I’m sure your books are well worth getting…wish I could afford them! I’m a published author myself (one non fiction) but it hasn’t sold well at all, so guess I’ll have to wait to get your books. Again, can’t wait to read your books!!

  23. As one of my beloved followers, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude by sharing with you my exciting news of becoming a newly published author! And, of course, I wanted you to be among the very first to get a chance to read the rest of my debut novel, The Legacy of Blood, now available in e-book format.

(No worries if you don’t have a Kindle or other e-reader device, they have free ones to download on your computer. I went on Amazon and downloaded their “Kindle for PC” absolutely free! Love it! Here’s the link if you need it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/kindle/pc/download .)

Again, I want to thank you kindly for all the support. And you never know, as some of my followers have told me, you could say you’ve had a big hand in helping make Shelby Westland a household name! :P

  24. Hi Chris, How is going the progress with the second novella of the True Identity series?

  25. Thank you Chris for following my blog despite the totally random and mundane posts. Looking forward to read your works in coming days.

    Cheers! =)

  26. After reading Unknown (True Identity), the following quote comes to mind “Description begins in the writer’s imagination, but should finish in the reader’s” (Stephen King). Trust me, the author clearly fulfiled this goal.

This is more than a good story, it’s a promising action thriller series that would bring reader’s the chance to enjoy a great story for a low price and take advantage of the Kindle reading device.

There were a few places that I had to go back and re-read as I was having a hard time following the story; but the twist at the end reward it. I read the entire book in one sitting.

Unknown (True Identity) is a good story worth more than .99 cents and I suggest you hook up with his blog and his writing. I was not disappointed in doing so.

It is the first novella in the True Identity series; I can’t wait to read the following books of the series.

  27. Chris, you are killing me. When the second novella of the True Identity series will be available?

  28. “Unknown” sounds like a good read. I have a Nook, but my son has a Kindle, so I’ll have to see what I can negociate with him while he’s home for Christmas break. :) Good luck with the writing and thanks for the follow!
    Cindy

  29. “Other Side” intrigues me…. hopefully I’ll get a chance to check it out over the holidays….

Appreciate the follow, Chris! All the best to you, and Merry Christmas!

  30. I have looked through the books and have bought two of them myself. I really enjoy your writing style. I am an aspiring author and have published several books of poetry through several direct distributors. I would love to get your thoughts on how to better market my self-published works. I have also been following your writing and would love to do an interview regarding your thoughts on self-publishing, blogging, and growing your brand. I hope to hear from you soon.

  31. Thanks for following, Chris. Will use your blog as a reference…

  32. Hi, glad you found your way to my site. I’m always looking for other writers to follow and it looks like you have some interesting things to offer :)

  33. Thank you for following! Your volunteer work with the youth peaked my interest. I’m a volunteer youth worker myself and still trying to improve myself in service. I’m blessed and humble to have you stumble at my page. I look forward to reading everything you have posted so far. God bless you and your community! PS: It’ll be really helpful to have an archive where I can easily look for your old posts. :)

  34. Martin, many thanks for following ‘the art of Heekeow’. I am truly impressed by your effort in taking the initiative to reach out to your potential readers and fans. You are a great example to me. I am more an artist now but do hope that one day I can start writting a story too with my own illustrations and art. Thanks for showing me what you have done. Congrats on successfully rolling out three ebooks now. I will get the ‘ other side of night’, and wish you all the best in your writing career. Regards, Heekeow

  35. Chris, thanks for the follow. It means a lot as I’ve just started blogging. I’ll definitely be frequenting your site, and I look forward to insights you have to offer. It’s so encouraging to see your pursuit of self-publishing since writing a novel is a major goal of mine. I’m about to read your summary of “The Stranger.”

  36. Thanks for following the allonymbooks blog. Your novellas look really great, so good luck with the longer form, as you obviously have some great ideas!

  37. Thank you for visiting my blog. Your blog is inspiring – I will be returning!

  38. Hi Chris!

Thanks for being my first follower!
Your novellas sound very interesting and not what I would usually read however I am tempted! Only problem is I don’t have a kindle and amazon hates Australian iPad users.
I’ve read some of your other blog posts though and found them to be very useful. I particularly agreed with clean writing. I also hate it when something I’m reading is peppered with such language or even in conversation. There are so many better words in the english language waiting to be used, in my opinion.
thanks once again and good luck!

  39. It’ on my list to start using Kindle, so as soon as I do I am definitely getting The Stranger, it seems like my type of books.
I’m a bit old- fashioned, I still prefer my books made of paper and their smell of ink, but I’ve realized I am missing many good reads, so I might as well adjust to the e- reading :)
    All the best!

  40. Thanks for the follow. I like the lay out here and the blogs I have perused. I am actually going to get a Kindle in the mail any day now (hopefully today?????) and I will be grabbing up a few of these Novellas. All the best.

  41. Hi Chris;

Thanks for following my Reiki Flow blog.

Looks like I’m going to have to have a browse through your bookshelf. You’ve got some good write ups on Amazon.

  42. Hi Chris

Sorry it’s taken so long for me to respond. You seem like a very prolific writier. Self publishing I’m sure can be rewarding. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  43. Hi Chris,
Thank you for stopping by and signing up to follow our blog. It means a lot to us. We wish you the very best of luck with your writing.

  44. Hi and thanks for following Homeboundblogger. Still starting out new with the writing and poetry, so do appreciate the support :)

  45. Thanks for following lifeinjoyfuljuxtaposition! Good luck with your writing endeavors!

  46. Hey, thanks for following Just Rambling. I started blogging because I wanted to connect with a group of friends I’ve made through the Il Divo Official Forum. It’s a way to bring my culture to these friends who I may never meet at all and also to share with them my passion in music and writing (though my writing isn’t that great, but still these friends supported me :) ). It’s an added bonus when strangers visit my blog and even better when they follow it. So, again, thanks for following.

  47. Hey Chris, Although I must admit that I was at first thrilled that the lead singer of Coldplay was following my blog, I am just as excited to check out your novellas. Good on ya for doing this your own way!

  48. Thank you for following Be Well Live Well. Continued success in your writings.

  49. Thank you for the follow up…artist also here, but painting not writing most of the time…imagination has no limits…

    Miss D.

  50. I’ve just come across your Blog because you started following mine. I always admire someone who has the courage and deermination to follow their dream. Your plot lines sound really inventive and I’ve put “The Other Side of Night” on my must read list

  51. Hey, Chris – Just wanted to say thanks for the follow and love the blog. It’s always fun to read about the journey of other writers. I’m definitely going to have to pick up a copy of “The Stranger.” The excerpt on Amazon pulled me. Best of luck with your books, my friend.

  52. Thank you for following my blog, Chris…. also, i will follow your writings…. I really liked it… Creative people are the best….

  53. Thank you for signing up to follow my blog! The rantings of a soul going through growing pains LOL! : I just glanced at your books! Darn, I may have to pick up a Kindle! I’ve rebelled against them – rather liking the feel of a book, but your stories look so good, I guess I will break down and join the current century : ) Anyway, thanks!
    Sue

  54. Thanks for following my blog. It’s always encouraging to hear from other writers! I’m really looking forward to perusing some more of your work.

    • Thanks for stopping by, Laura. I appreciate the kind words and the follow. Best of luck with your book. I noticed you and your husband live in Miami. If you’re a Dolphins fan, then we have something else in common as well. :) Have a great day.

      Chris

  56. congrats on having books out…I am actually working on getting mines out there as well…keep writing and sharing and being a BOSS. (writer to writer)

  57. Hey Chris, thanks for following my blog. Your books look really interesting. I hope my books will be just as popular some day.

  58. Thank you so much for following my humble blog. I hope the day soon comes when these books hit the bestseller list, though not before I have purchased them for the current price. :p
Am surely going to lay my hands on all these books as they seem very interesting. Also as am myself writing a novella/novel (not sure yet how it will turn out), i would love to read your style of writing. :)

  59. thanks for following my blog. and thanks for the notes on self-publishing (not clear, were you speaking for yourself or re-blogging Marla Madison?) Working on a novel but not ready to get it before the world yet.

    • That was a guest blog post from Marla. Some really awesome information. I’ve self-published the three books I currently have on Amazon. First one was hard, but now that I have my template set up, it’s not too bad at all. I wish you the best on your novel. Thanks for stopping by.

      Chris

  60. Hi Chris, I think this page is great – I love the way you can open the image straight into your Amazon page – I was able to go straight to your books! Can you tell me how you do that? It is such a good idea!

  61. Hi Chris! Thank you so much for stopping by and subscribing to my blog! May God bless you through it! And may you continue to write clean! Thanks for taking a stand for good, wholesome writing without all the expletives! God Bless!

  62. Thanks for following my blog. I am waiting for my self-published book to come back from the editor. She is going to format it for Createspace and KDP too. (I hate badly formatted books.)

  63. Chris, I tried to find out for the last 1/2 hour how to send you an email. Please can you contact me with your id so that I can write to you. Thanks.

  64. thanks for the follow. Hang in there. I know what bumpy ride publishing is!

  65. I need to converse with you in a nonpublic setting email wise I mean, Is that possible?
If not, I will simply say after finishing The Stranger I am half blown away.
    jlj

  66. Had to add another 2 cents, bought The Stranger, had to stop at 27%, had to stop at 47%, plan on completing it tonight no matter what my wife wants done. Very magnetic writing. Pedestrian, not above my head but so far, in my heart and captivating. Others have mention’d surprise ending, the surprise would be be getting to the end with out another To-Do, but Chris, that’s on me, not on you. I envy your gift and the road you’ve travel’d to get it down, done, and out!. It’s a marvel in art itself. I’ve got 3 cd’s and 500 songs and am dry as a bone on the artistic motivation planet. Keep you MoJo working.
    jlj

    • Wow. I don’t even know what to say. That is the most awesome compliment anyone has ever given me on my writing. Thank you so much. You don’t know how much that means. I apprecitate you taking the time to stop by and tell me that. I hope you enjoy the rest of The Stranger.

      Chris

  67. so many blogs, so little time, yours, and mine, be fine, be well, be clean is cool, love to write, but not like you, love to read, you and a million, art, life, time, blessed with plenty, WAIT< I just contradicted myself.
That Chris is why I'm not a published writer, can't keep my stream of consciousness unpolluted.

May you be please with what you do and give thanks to the creator in you.

  68. Hi Chris, Thanks for checking out Savvy Single Suppers. The Cheater Moussaka recipe was originally for 4 people (if your girls are that adventurous in their eating habits!), double everything except the egg used in the yogurt sauce. I have a fondness and respect for fiction writers. All the best to you!

  69. Amazing books!what an achievement. Thanks for following my blog.I’m honored

  70. Hi Chris, I am so glad you followed my blog and hugely flattered. Reading your writing is effortless, I could read it all day! I will definitely be purchasing your work. :) oh and following your blog too!

  71. Looking forward to browsing your books and your blog writing. Thanks for the follow!

  72. All of these books look really good, but also seem ridicilously cheap. Hello, new author obsession.

    • Lol. I have them priced at $.99 for two reasons. 1) I’m a new author and no one has ever heard of me. It’s easier to get someone to pay $.99 rather than $2 or $3. 2) All three of them are novellas and aren’t as long as a novel. I would feel bad charging too much for them. I’m working on a full length novel and will probably charge $3.99 or so for that one. When I become a NY Times Bestseller, I will start charging $20 for my books. Just kidding of course. More like $30. :)

      Thanks for stopping by.

      Chris

  73. Hi Chris, Thanks for following my blog. “The Stranger” looks like a good mystery and I’m definitely ordering it.

    • THANK YOU. That is awesome. I really appreciate it. It means a lot when someone actually tells me they are going to buy one of my books. Very encouraging. Thanks for taking the time to visit and comment. Have a blessed day,

      Chris
